At Positive Life Solutions it is believed that through deliberate positive thinking we engage in inspired action which enhances our well-being. Well-being builds resilience against mental ill-health such as stress, anxiety and depression. The focus is therefore to increase mental health rather than 'fix' mental ill-health. Just as maintaining physical health reduces space for physical ill-health, maintaining mental health reduces space for mental ill-health.

Positive Life Solutions offers psychological treatment, confidential counselling, and a variety of resources through the online shop for people experiencing diagnosed mental illness, stressful life events, or simply anyone who wants to enhance their quality of life.

Positive Life Solutions' principle therapist is Felicity Hunter who is a registered Psychologist. She uses strength based therapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Therapy, along with Mindfulness in a Positive Psychology framework. These are evidence based therapies found to be very effective in the treatment of diagnosed mental illness and are the treatment protocol used for clients referred through a Mental Health Care Plan. Basically Felicity can help you develop insight into your thought and behaviour patterns, and the effect these have on your life. Then she can help you better adapt your thoughts and behaviours so that you ACT rather than REACT to situations, i.e. make deliberate choices about to how you are going to respond.

For individuals interested in life coaching - coaching in meditation and the philosophies of the Law of Attraction (as seen in the writings of Jerry and Esther Hicks and the movie The Secret) are also available.

The online shop caters for your relaxation, self care, and personal growth needs. There are currently books, CD's and essences available, with more stock being added regularly. Shipping Australia wide with international enquiries welcomed.

About Felicity

Felicity is a Fully Registered Psychologist who graduated from the Townsville Campus of James Cook University in April 2000 with a Bachelor of Psychology at an Honours level. There are two ways to become a Fully Registered Psychologist. One pathway is complete a further two to three years of University training either through a Masters or Doctorate qualification. The other is through supervised practical experience. Felicity chose the latter. This means that she completed a four year university degree including a Thesis, followed by 100 hours of formal documented supervision and 1600 hours of supervised psychological practice.

After graduating, Felicity embarked on a combination of paid and voluntary employment with Life Line North Queensland as a Telephone Counsellor, and writing and presenting group programs at their family services centre. She then secured employment within Queensland Corrective Services as a Psychologist. In 2003 she transferred from Townsville to Maryborough. During her employment Felicity undertook diagnostic assessments, and delivered crisis intervention, brief therapies, and group based treatments with adults with complex needs. In April 2007 Felicity left government employment and in June that same year saw her first client in private practice. Today Felicity sees clients who are self referred, referred through their GP, through Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service (VVCS), WorkCover Queensland, or as part of Queensland Health’s Employee Assistance Program.

Felicity updates her skills through regularly participating in peer supervision and attending ongoing training and professional development.

Felicity is currently the Branch Secretary of the Australian College of Clinical Psychologists and is a founding member of the Fraser Coast branch.
